Seems I must do a Meme! This one is from [livejournal.com profile] wellinghall The idea is that when you see this poem you must then post one on own your LJ.

Well I’m totally predicable in that I’ve posted something from Tolkien!

This though is from 'The Lost Road' which I came across again quite recently when reading all that early Numenor stuff. It stuck in my mind as it is a favourite piece of one of our Smial members and it reminds me very much of Sam’s song in the orc tower which is one of my own favourites [especially when put to the music of Caspar Reiff].

From the Song of Aelfwine

O Shore beyond the Shadowy Sea!

O land where still the Edhil are!

O haven where my heart would be!

The waves still beat upon thy bar,

The White birds wheel; there flowers the Tree!

Again I glimpse them long afar

When rising west of West I see

Beyond the world the wayward Star,

Than beacons bright in Gondobar

More fair and keen, more clear and high.

O Star that shadow may not mar,

Nor ever darkness doom to die.

Snitched from absolutely everyone and I expect  everyone is thoroughly bored with it by now and clean out of questions but here goes anyway!

Ask me one fandom-related question in the comments. This can be fandom specific, general, or about fandom/lj stuff/fic writing/etc. in general. Favorite character, favorite moment, unpopular opinion, something about a fic of mine... whatever. Subparts allowed. Wackiness encouraged.

Now everyone's done the first line one, I guess it was inevitable that this one come around too sooner or later.

List the last lines of your last twenty stories. See if you find any patterns.

As to patterns, well, I think I'm just a huge sucker for Tolkien's wonderful world of heroic romance, and, even though a certain ranger doesn't actually get named in person in any of these lines, one hero in particular does seem to figure rather prominantly!
