inzilbeth: (Aragorn sketch)
[personal profile] inzilbeth
First up, thank you so much to everyone for coming up with such a wonderful variety of prefixes and suffixes for 'Inzilbeth'. All suggestions were quite brilliant so now I need to ruminate on the matter for a bit as I can't make up my mind which I prefer and one of my motos in life has always been 'when in doubt, do nothing'!

I was going to post some up to date pics of Pae tonight but I'm running short of time so, instead, here's another contribution for 'Aragorn in Art' .  A while back I posted a few truly dreadful pictures so this time I thought I would post one that I absolutely love. I've no idea who the artist is, but if anyone can tell me I would be glad to give due credit.

Next morning PS!

I just did a bit of googling and found the artist is Catherine Chmiel whose other work can be found here.

Seems she's quite a fan of the Stewards!

Oh, that is a nice piece... where (or when) do you suppose that's placed? Is that supposed to be a very young Aragorn with Arathorn or is it a grown Aragorn with... Eldarion?? (Aragorn doesn't look very Elessar-ish there if so but the "proud papa" look is all over his face).

It's a sweet scene, any way you look at it.

It's actually Ecthelion with Thorongil and baby Boromir. I just love the idea of the Steward and his favourite captain sharing such a quiet, domestic moment in the garden with the watchful nanny looking on!

Ah, I see. I thought about it being Thorongil in Gondor, but didn't think about the young one being Boromir, so I couldn't make it really "fit". It makes sense now.

... and I like how Boromir is stepping on Aragorn's foot! Wonder if he ever did that during their days together in the Fellowship!

Yes, sorry, I should have made that clear.

I find the fact it is baby Boromir makes it an even more poignant scene.

That is indeed a very nice drawing.

I'm sure he did, and it hurt a lot more than it did on this drawing. LOL

I'm glad you like it. It's a cute touch by the artist but I can't help wondering whether he meant more by it!

I think he didn't, or maybe depending on whom he was he might have. We'll never know, will we/

Lol! I hadn't thought about his long legs, but yes, they are rather! I love the relaxed way he's sitting and the peacefulness of the scene.

Aww, that's a sweet pic, Inzilbeth! What a beautiful family scene! Boromir's behaviour towards Aragorn is really telling, lol. I liked the maiden or perhaps nursemaid - she seems so satisfied with what she's seeing. :)

This is certainly much better (and less disturbing) than the last art you posted! Boromir is a dark baby.

Lol! It is much more pleasant, isn't it!

I noticed that too. I checked out more of the artist's work on her website and many of her characters seem to have almost a Native American look to them and yet she is Polish apparently.

I like her Silmarillion stuff very much.

I'm glad you liked it, Almut. I can almost imagine afternoon tea being served in a minute! I wonder what that maid's secret is, she does seem very happy with the situation. [Maybe she has a crush on Thorongil Lol!]

Who hasn't? *g* Well, except for the male part of the population and they tend to like him, too. ;-) It would really be nice to learn the maid's story, though.

P.S. Will you post the picture your icon comes from, too (or have you already done so)? It looks enticing! *g*

Lol! How true, and you're right, the guys do all seem to like Aragorn. I guess they want to be like him!

I will post the icon pic, sure. [I Would do so here but I've not figured out how to do that yet!]It's actually just a little watercolour painting I bought on ebay. It's not by anyone famous but I really liked it.

I've not yet figured out how to post images in comments, too. I'm looking forward to seeing that pic! I already like the way Aragorn is painted in it. ;-)

Oh, I know that one. I saved it on my harddrive AGES ago and still love to look at it. I especially like the loook on the face of Boromir's nurse in the background. And of course Thorongil's grin!

Yes, this is definitely one of my favourites too. Thorongil is so much as I imagine him to be and I love the feeling that Ecthelion is including him as family.
