Yay! News on the next Tolkien art exhibition at Moreton!

I see Malcx has a post up at Torn about the next art exhibition which will be held in Moreton in Marsh, UK next spring. It's going to be called 'Edge of the Wild' and will feature this great new piece by Ted Nasmith of Bilbo and Gandalf being carried over the Misty Mountains. Full details of the event can be found here

http://www.theonering.net/torwp/2009/10/26/34005-tolkien-art-exhibition-event-the-edge-of-the-wild-moreton-in-marsh/#more-34005

and I can't stress enough how worthwhile a visit would be to anyone within striking distance or even planning a trip to the UK next year. This will be the sixth of these events I've attended and I simply can't wait, but even for the first time visitor, you will get a great welcome. I'm meeting Malcx for dinner tomorrow night so I'm hoping to find out more but I do know Chris Tolkien [Hilary's grandson] will be there signing copies of the new book, 'Wheelbarrows at Dawn'. And if you turn up on the Sunday, the nerd in the ranger costume will be me!

Oh, that's a beautiful painting, isn't it??

Someday maybe I'll get to go but it'd be a looooooong strike for me. LOL

oooh, I wish I could go! but I have a terrible feeling it is when I am in France... and mother is shaking her head at the train fare :(

It's an awful long strike, I know which is such a shame. This painting is going to be available as a limited edition print so you can guess what I'm thinking can't you!

Oh what a pity! France sounds good though.

I will try and make it this year but when is it exactly? The website doesn't say. Spring is a bit of a variable time in this Country. *grin*

The painting is really stunning!

I don't think I'll be anywhere near the UK next year, but if I am, you'll be the first to know. ;-) I'd love to see you in that ranger costume, btw. *g*

I'm soooooooooo glad I'm going to be there again next year.

Oh do work on him; it would be lovely to meet you.

[identity profile] inzilbeth-liz.livejournal.com 2009-10-27 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, were there no dates? Well it's 26th to 29th March. Oh do come, I would so love to meet you.

[identity profile] inzilbeth-liz.livejournal.com 2009-10-27 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh I do a good ranger! Well this is an annual event so maybe another year.

[identity profile] inzilbeth-liz.livejournal.com 2009-10-27 07:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sooooooooooooooooooo glad you're going to be there too!

[identity profile] suzll.livejournal.com 2009-10-27 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
*sighs*
*drools over artwork*

Here's hoping they still do this two years from now--that's when I'll be in the UK (if all plans work out)!

[identity profile] inzilbeth-liz.livejournal.com 2009-10-27 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sure this will be happening for years to come since it's gone from strength to strength since it first started.
So, I'll make it a date to meet you in two years time then!

[identity profile] harrowcatliz.livejournal.com 2009-10-27 10:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks. Well there was a date for the Friday preview but no Month attached to it which meant that it could have been March or April if it is in 'Spring'.
Will do my best to get there for something will have to check the diary and find out what my health is doing.

P.s. I would make a better hobbit than a ranger figure-wise but emotionally? Well give me a camp-fire rather than a stove any day.

[identity profile] inzilbeth-liz.livejournal.com 2009-10-27 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Lol! I know what you mean!

[identity profile] suzll.livejournal.com 2009-10-28 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
*nods* Sounds like a plan =D

[identity profile] estelcontar1.livejournal.com 2009-10-28 03:16 pm (UTC)(link)
