MEFA reviews

Phew! I've just left my very first review at the MEFA's and feel ridiculously proud of myself so I thought I would come here and tell everyone! I didn't know why I've been so slow to get involved with all this. Once the initial hoo haa at the beginning was over, I've hardly been back there and have just kept putting off getting my head around the whole process of [A] how to find stories [B] how to review them, and [C] how the voting actually works.

Well I now know how to write a ten point review so that's a good start. My plan now is to write one review a day until the end of the month. I doubt I've read thirty stories this year so hopefully I can still pick up on a few new ones once I get the hang of browsing the categories. Either that, or I'm going to be very busy on New year's Eve!

:D I think I should start reviewing.... oops, I've totally neglected MEFAs after my main liason duties finished!
I do have two stories nominated though!

Yay! Well done! And as that review was for my story, I'm gobsmacked at your kind words! I'll reply more fully to it after MEFAs are over (I'm just marking the reviews to reply to once everything is done) but for now, THANK YOU!!!! :)

As for getting reviews done... for me, it worked best to start with the short stories and drabbles. They're a little easier to review--I don't usually leave the big 10-pointers for drabbles unless they're really outstanding. So that could be a way you could eke out more than one review a day if you're wanting to leave as many as you can in order to find the most new stories.

You be awesome!

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one!

You're most welcome! I did want to be absolutely sure I got than one done.

I don't have an official target, I'm just trying to make myself stick at it but it might help to get into the swing of it to leave a few shorter ones first. Thanks for the tip.

Lol! Thank you!

Sweeeet! That means you'll be reading a story a day, doesn't it? And more stories are always a good thing =D.

Well I'm probably start with the ones I've made a mental note to review and then browse around. I hope it will be fun though.

Congrats! :D I've done a handful, about ten perhaps. Though it's a lot better than I'd done in the two previous years (read: zero), still I feel that I should be doing more. And I do plan to, but you know what they say about plans. ;)

Ah, MEFA. Pretty much the only place outside of Teitho that I read LotR fic anymore.

My problem exactly! So come December 1st I decided it was now or never.

Well hopefully the very fact stories are nominated should be an indicator of their quality so I hope to make some good finds.

Hah, no worries. I didn't even try and review >_> I know, I fail... Most stories I like I've reviewed or at least faved somewhere else anyways XD

Congrats on surviving your first MEFA review! :D It's quite an adventure to find out how to review there, isn't it? I still have far too many stories left I'd like to leave a review for - I have no idea how I'll ever manage to read and review all of them until the end of December. LOL!

It is my first year to review there too. I've just collected my review junkie banner but I have only done ten. Must find time to do, at least, a few more. Having my one and only contribution to LOTR fanfiction nominated gave me a happy buzz for weeks and made me think that I should contribute some reviews in return.

[identity profile] inzilbeth-liz.livejournal.com 2009-12-02 12:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, I've reviewed most of what I've read too but as this is my first year taking part, I feel I ought to make the effort.

[identity profile] inzilbeth-liz.livejournal.com 2009-12-02 07:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks, yes it is a bit daunting at first and I found myself strangely tongue-tied! I'm sure I'll also find lots more stories to review once I get into the swing of it.

It's very much the same for me so I felt I ought to make a bit of an effort too.

Congratulations on your first MEFA review.

I have to confess I'm still feeling like that - somehow, writing MEFA reviews is much more intimidating than writing normal reviews. *g*
