'The Hobbit' to be two movies

I've just seen this at Theonering.net. http://www.empireonline.com/news/story.asp?NID=24610
So the whole of 'The Hobbit' is going to span the two proposed movies. My first reaction to this news was regret that there would be no reprisal of Viggo as Aragorn [at least, in this context, I hope there won't be]. But, although that is disappointing in itself, I really don't think stretching a book that is half the size of FOTR over two movies is the greatest of ideas. Only time will tell, I guess.

Yes, I mustn't forget that I'm still really excited about 'The Hobbit' and seeing Smaug and all the great things we have to look forward to [I was just hoping for a bit of Thorongil in Lothlorien!]

That would've been great. We'll just have to "fill in the gaps" with fic for this movie as we've been doing with the last three. :)
